Ian Edwards

It has been our family's honour and pleasure to have known you since 1969, when we all became neighbours in Westbury-on-Trym. Ever a true gentleman and a faithful friend especially to Brian and our mum, Enid, when she was very ill, you will be greatly missed by all of us. Your courage, fortitude and humour, particularly during the past months since the diagnosis, have been inspirational to those of us that knew you. Brenda, Julie, Serena, Richard and all the family, our love, thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. With deepest sympathy from all the Davies clan XXXXXX

Dear Brenda and family I was deeply saddened to hear of Ian's passing. He was a wonderful, warm and witty man whom I will greatly miss. Ian was a highly regarded member of the Bristol Commonwealth Society and was an asset to our Executive Committee for several years. Members speak of him with great fondness. My first memory of meeting Mr Edwards (I was still a teenage at the time) was a meal with the family when he offer me a glass of Koonunga Hill. Apparently he had a case of this stuff and was more than happy to share it with me. I must admit I had a slight handover from the night before after been out with Richard. However, I do like my wine so I accepted a glass. Now I am sure the Koonuga company has produced fine wines but maybe this bottle was not up to its best. I did drink it but I am afraid my face must have showed that I my palette was been assaulted. I remember Ian smiling when I described what I thought of the wine. From then on if Ian had a bottle of Koonuga Hill to hand he would of course offer me a taste :) We always had great conversations when I visited, often about the funny side of life. So I will always remember him smiling. RIP Ian (Mr Edwards).
