A Wonderful Man. When he passed my heart broke.
Earlier that year he virtually fought tooth and nail for and with me, and I live outside of the ward of St Georges so technically he didn't have to.. Every year I think of him and thank him for sharing his strength. You're gone but definitely not forgotten.

Ron was my mentor and friend in English Toy Spaniels. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I'm sure he's sorely missed
Where do i begin writing, how do you honour such a great man.
Ron was the best part of my day, a hero for me in many ways. Ron was twice my age, twice the man.
Ron made Bristol a brilliant place to live, welcoming friendly, sharing stories about his adventures, grand children, his cavaliers and breeding skills amongst some of the amazing developments that he was aiming to take shape and implement around Bristol.
From the bottom of my heart Ron, you will always be remembered and spoke of with pure kindness.
Thank you so much for all your achievements.
I'd been out of touch with Ron for a long time, and went on-line to check his email address. I was shocked and saddened to read of his death back in December. Since I live in the USA, I only met Ron on-line, through a mutual interest in King Charles Spaniels. He was the nicest, kindest, most helpful person I've encountered in a long time. He was a wonderful teacher about spaniels, and never hesitated to pass on his knowledge. My deepest sympathy to Jenny Stone.
I first met Ron on the car boot circuit, and an interest in cameras & photography generally made us chums. He was a gentleman. I will miss him.

We first met Ron and Jenny when we started showing King Charles Spaniels and at the time other people seemed reluctant to talk to us but with Ron it was different, as we were always benched next to them there was always a welcome from them both and this was always the case throughout the many years we have known them. he had a special sense of humour and Gill and myself will surely miss his presence around the ringside
Ron was a fantastic person to work with and did so much for St George and the wider area. He encouraged young people in Speedwell to campaign for funding to improve their local park and to speak up for their area. His work will continue.
I valued Ron's advice and support and I'm so sad he is no longer with us. His constituency work and commitment was incredible. Ron's photography was brilliant and I will treasure the photos he took of me during my campaign.
So very sad, have only just heard the news. Our thoughts go out to the family at this sad time. He was a man with a clear vision. If it wasn't for him and his wife, we probably would never have had a KCS and missed out on some wonderful years.
I have only just heard that Ron has died. Truly shocking to have someone who has been so committed ,passionate, and supportive about whatever he was involved in has gone.In my years as a trade union official I came to know his strength and support first hand something I will always remember with gratitude and great affection. He will be greatly missed.
Ron was incredibly generous with his time, he was always supportive, and if he felt that there was a problem with your proposals, he would work with you to find the best solution. He was a mind of knowledge and was always willing to help. Legend is a word that is used far too loosely used today, but his vociferous approach to his counselling role was a shining example of working for the greater good, and the city will miss him.
I was very sadden to hear of the passing of Ron, he was a true gentleman who always had time for you to chat about dogs and just of late helping me with my photography, I first met Ron and his wife jenny when I got my first KCS and he was very encouraging and very helpful (as at the time I was only 9 years old) - I have some lovely photos my dogs taken by Ron and he would never take anything for them, he would also find time to speak to my husband about car, bikes etc that he had photographed - he will be sorely missed around the ringside with his friendly hello and smile - our thought and prayers are being sent to Jenny and his family at this time.
Ron was a genuine stalwart who will be greatly missed. He showed such sincerity when helping individuals and families. He used to say that if something wasn't good enough for him or his family then it wasn't good enough for other people. I will never forget his ongoing support and concern when dealing with a bereavement within my own family in 2015.
We first met Ron and Jenny about 30 years ago when we both started showing King Charles Spaniels. They were friendly and kind and have always been so. Ron took some lovely photos of our dogs which he gave us over the years and I treasure them as I do his kindness!
Our deepest sympathy goes to Jenny and the family.
A kind, quiet and unassuming gentleman, who I held in great esteem. His knowledge of the King Charles Spaniel breed was vast and reflected in his excellent ability to judge.
I first got to know Ron 30 years ago when we were both members of Avon County Council. He was a committed socialist who got things done, working incredibly hard and effectively for those he represented.
He is greatly missed.
Deepest condolences to his family.
Summerhill Infant School was saddened to hear the news that Cllr Ron Stone had passed away over the Christmas holidays and we send our condolences to his family. He had been a regular visitor to the school and had campaigned on behalf of the children at the school for changes to the local community. I will fondly remember his keen eye for detail and ever ready listening ear, always willing to help. I will always be indebted for the support he offered me when I first moved to Bristol in 2007. He was a good friend to our school and will be missed.

Headmaster Summerhill Infant School
So sad to hear of Rons death shall miss him going around shows with his camera
Thinking of Jenny & her family at this sad time, we will miss seeing Ron around the ring with his camera in hand.
I always enjoyed conversations with Ron - photography, fishing, and politics!
He had a great heart for the city and especially his ward constituents
sorry to hear this news will be missed
We were saddened to hear of the death of Ron Stone. He contributed so much to the University of Bristol, as a member of staff in the School of Physics, through his activities with the trade union and as a long standing member of Court. He is remembered as a great colleague and friend by all who knew him. On behalf of the University, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family.
Ron will be missed for his dedication and hard work on behalf of the people of Bristol. RIP
We shall all miss Ron at the dog shows which he regularly attended. A gentleman who was so dedicated in everything he undertook. Thinking of Jenny and family at this sad time.
It is with sadness that I heard that Ron Stone passed away in Hospital on 30th December 2015.
I remember when he & Jenny first started in Cavaliers & then went onto own; breed & Judge King Charles Spaniels, a breed he became besotted with.
I also remember their first Charlie Amantra Tickled Pink which I had the pleasure of judging.
He had bred Champions & had the supreme accolade of judging at Crufts. He also gave a lot of time to being Chairman of the King Charles Spaniel Association for over 20 years & upon his retirement he & Jenny were rewarded with Honorary Life Membership which they accepted. I remember him ringside camera in hand happily snapping away at exhibits & then explaining to Raoul how his various cameras worked. Apart from Photography, Car Boots were his other past time, where he obtained many rare cameras at knock down prices. Whilst working for the Bristol Fire Service he also became a well respected Councillor for the Labour Party.
Sadly another oldtimer leaves us, but his legacy continues in his dogs. Mine & Raoul's deepest condolences go to Jenny & children.

Sincere condolences, Ron was a wonderful man, an excellent judge of King Charles Spaniels and an even better photographer. He always made time at shows to come and talk. He will be sorely missed
Our sincerest condolences.
Deepest sympathy to Jennie & family.
Great man - not only worked for and represented his ward but also cared for the people in it. His acts of service are evident all over the place and he will be sadly missed
Ron will be sadly missed. He was a caring and loving friend .
Deepest condolences to Jen,Daniel and Joanne if we had more people like Ron the world would be a much better place thinking of you at this sad time.
Ron was friendly, hardworking, dedicated and very passionate in everything he did. Loved and respected by many. A sad loss. Bristol has lost one of it's soldiers!
I knew Ron for more than 20 years. he was extremely efficient and helpful when I worked with him in the Physics Department of the university. His public spirit drew him to local politics where he was immensely successful. My sympathies to his family and friends. He shall be missed
What a shock for me, I have known Ron for over 30years, and he was both a friend and a mentor. His support in the fight to get a new community centre for Speedwell was tremendous and we will really miss him. Both as Chair of Meadow Vale Community centre and as a personal friend. Even Rupert my little dog will miss his cuddles, as no doubt will his dogs. So sorry Jenny, Joanne, Daniel and the Grand Children so many lovely memories
All of us in the South West Fire Brigades Union are very saddened to hear of the death of Ron Stone. Ron was a dedicated support of the Fire Brigades Union and the Fire Service, having served as a member of Avon Fire Authority. The deepest condolences and full solidarity of everyone in the FBU go out to Ron's family and friends at this very sad time. Ron was a committed and conscientious supporter of the FBU and attended many picket lines in Bristol Fire Stations to show his support to the Firefighters and their Union. Ron was a politician of integrity and his loss will be felt by Avon Firefighters and working people throughout the City.
We were so saddened and shocked to hear of Ron's sudden death and our thoughts go to his family at this difficult time. His legacy will be in the wonderful work that he did for Bristol and the countless lives that he touched. I have known his beautiful daughter Jo for about 25 years and she has the qualities, kindness and sense of morality that is a true reflection of her wonderful father. Our love to you all.
A sad loss, not just for East Bristol, but the whole of Bristol. Ron, you were a truly principled man.
Ron was a true and loyal friend and an outstanding city Councillor who I have known since the 1970s.
It was a pleasure to work with him on our community based projects within St George, and receive his total and caring support over many years.
Grenville Johnson. Chair of St George in Bloom and Chair of Kensington Road Residents Association.
Ron you were a man of principle loved and respected by many. You have left a big pair of shoes to fill.
You will be missed by all that met you
I was very fortunate to meet Ron a couple of times. He came across to me as a very warm and caring man.
I have heard many things about Ron from comrades of Bristol Labour Party. There were many tales that they all loved of the man himself. You will be gratefully missed Ron, I am sure you will still be looking down over St. Georges Ward.
RIP Ron.
i first meet Ron when i 1st started at Bristol university on a temporary basis he gave me alot of support and advise , he also wrote a fantastic reference which helped me get a permanent position at the university.he was always there to help anyone and had integrity nd ethics which is severely lacking in todays societ, as a friend and colleague he will be sadly missed,
Ron was a pleasure to work with in East Bristol, with a passion for the young people there and a commitment to the people of his ward. You will be missed.
My husband and I both met Ron when he was an amazing technician at the University of Bristol back in the early nineties. He was always kind, amazingly knowledgeable and capable. He was always helpful but we got to know each other better after he recognised that we were marching with him and all the other technicians when they were striking over pay. Imagine my surprise to find the same Ron Stone as a Labour Councillor, even though we stood on opposite sides of the elected mayor referendum. Ron was always courteous and honourable in that time. His legacy will live on in his ward as well as in the memories of those lives he touched. Wishing his family our love and sympathy.
Ron was kind, considered and compassionate. He knew the workings of the Council inside out, he knew the needs of his community ever more. I will miss him and his spirit of generosity which he shared for all. He was hard working and dedicated. A loss for all who know him, those who's lives he touched and the city of Bristol.
I knew Ron for over 20 years and he was a real champion for the community he served. and a pleasure to work with.
Ron will be sorely missed
I knew Ron for over 20 years meeting him when I first got involved in the Labour Party.
He was back then and right up to just a couple of weeks ago passion about social justice, standing up for those less fortunate and did the right thing by way of normal good people.
He loved his photos, dogs, people of St. George and Labour and I think it was in that order.
He will be massively but fondly missed by me and I know the rest of the Labour Party.
Kelvin Blake
Chair of Bristol East Labour Party
