Today I said good bye to a man who I was so proud to call a friend. Des was a Prince amongst men, he had the God given personality always prepared to help, give advice and stand by you in times of trouble. The world has lost a true gent, God bless you Des rip x

Forever in our hearts, your love and support Uncle Desmond, will forever stay with me as just one of the many things that made you a great and favored Uncle. You called my mother "Mommy" long before I arrived on the scene and that has always made you my honorary big "brother" as well, Your loss will be felt by many for a long time but Aunt Jane and the girls can always count on us to be there whenever the need arises. Rest in peace, Uncle Des.

Martin Luther King said 'the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy'. Des, we had the privilege of briefly living with you when you and Jane and family found out you had Cancer. Never have we been so humbled as we were by the inspirational and courageous way you and your beloved family handled the news and all the challenges you faced since. I will never forget how I took you and Jane to the doctor's one freezing day in November 2017. You were feeling really poorly, atrocious in fact with a raging temperature and sick. Jane left you in the car while she ran in to get your prescription and then went to the cashpoint. Suddenly you were bolt upright and leaping out the car like Jack in a Box. Why Because you were worried there was a potentially threatening bloke approaching Jane. That showed me what a hero you were amongst us mortals. I know your love for Jane, your girls and your grandchildren and their love for you kept you going, defying the odds for so long, but rest now Des in wonderful peace. The world is worse off without you.

No words can describe the impact you had on all of us growing up the words of wisdom and love gave to all of us was one of a kind, you’ll forever be in all of our heart we’ve all gained a guardian angel x

Des so loving and welcoming from the first day I met you, I will hold your wise words close to my heart forever, you are an inspiration to everyone who known you, So brave and determined until we meet again love always xx

Des patiently sat with me for hours doing a business plan for Quba Ice restaurant when I 1st moved to Bristol. Without his support it might not have happened!! I am truly grateful for his support and friendship. Great man who will be missed by many. Rest in Eternal Peace Des. Xx

Im sorry, i Just cant string words together to write 'all' the things Des has shared with me, taught me, shown me and just simply been there for me. You all loved me as family, Especially the big man and i cant described what that means to me. Please stay strong family, I love you all & know that he has us all under his wing now.

Don’t know how to write or explain how we’re feeling, I know Tommo is missing his mate and those what me and Jane would call boreing putting the world to rights but very intelligent conversation... you will have them again one day, As for our Jane my mate and the girls I will do what you asked me. Nothing more to say publicly but we will keep chatting to you. Love you loads ❤️❤️

Dear Aunty Jane, Sophie Natalie and Leanna I promised your dad I would always be there for you. It still doesn’t feel real to me at all. You were so lucky that he was your dad! He might be gone but he will continue to guide you through life without you even realising it. All his teachings will be with you forever. Uncle you were one of the reasons I’m proud to put my last name first.
