There's far too much to say about Richard to attempt to describe his life in a few words.
In the years he spent fighting cancer, Rich was atireless fundraiser and supporter of the charities that cared for him. Throughout the hard times, Rich, Kaye, Olivia and Ryan felt loved, supported and welcomed by the fantastic staff and friends they've made at Penny Brohn and St Peter's Hospice. In honour of Rich's life, please make a donation to one of these fantastic charities.

I will never forget you, I love you so much and always told you 'they broke the bloody mould when they made you' and they did. You were one of the funniest blokes I ever met. You were hilarious, crude and cheeky(you always loved my boobs, and our Kaye didn't mind)even when you got your initial diagnosis up to the very end you never lost your spirit and whit! You are no longer in pain Rich, your memory will live on forever. I will miss you, i can still hear you saying to me 'You reet our Claire' You have lost your fight far too young, but you will live on in all of our hearts. God bless you Rich, sleep tight. Love you always, Our Claire. X
Well Richard, what can I say. I couldn’t have chosen a more amazing hubby for my best friend and Dad for Liv and Ryan. We’ve shared some hilarious days/nights out and I will cherish all those memories, but what I’ll miss most are our nights in, staying up until stupid o’clock having a laugh and talking nonsense with Kaye and Ste. Love you lots and sorry for the Tuna Pasta that you had to eat so many times!
What a lovely guy. We got to see you kay and the kids last xmas in Bristol when we all came to stop for 3 days.we all had a fabulous time. You have been an inspiration to us all and an example how to live life to the full, as you did. I know you ll be up there watching and looking after kay , Olivia and Ryan. R.I.P Rich.
Rich a dear friend and neighbour but most importantly one of the Ham Green Posse and always will be. You put up a good fight against the big C with your positivity alternative treatments and convential, you gave it all your best shot. Such an inspiration to so many people. Rest in peace our dear friend
Rest in Peace Rich - only got to meet you a few years ago but we all wish it had been sooner. You were a great guy and your love for your family was there for all to see. You bore your challenges with typical determination and were always prepared to help others. We always enjoyed seeing you, Kaye, Liv & Ryan at the cousin's reunions and any future ones will have a big void without you.
Words cannot express how sad we are for Kaye Liv and Ryan.
Rich was an amazingly strong person who was always positive about his illness and a true inspiration.
He will be missed greatly by us all xxx

We are so glad we got to spend time with you this past Christmas, we cherish the memories of you making us laugh and especially the personal tour you gave us of your home town. You tought is that family and friends are the most important thing in life and to fight to the very end. Rip Rich you may be gone but will never be forgotten.xxx
I don't know where to begin .... i was privileged enough to have met Rich over 20 years ago through one of my life long besties our kaye. I've always been a hopeless romantic and unfortunately have not yet found my sole mate but I wont lose hope as I know it's possible...kaye and rich define the word sole mates.... I don't think there is anyone that is more made for eachother in this world .... through the years they have grown together and brought up the most respectful and honourable children, olivia and Ryan are both such beautiful human beings and this was due to the parenting style of kaye and rich... I hope alex makes me as proud as up to be Liv and Ryan have made rich and kaye.
My greatest memory will be our 40th birthday cruise ...I don't think I've ever laughed as much as I did that weekend...we had the best time and our rich was on form throughout...
Rich it goes without saying that you will leave a big hole in our hearts... we are all deeply saddened it won't ever be the same.... we will look after our kaye we promise ... love you mate ...boobs and toes will never forget you.... sleep tight out of pain our dear true friend and inspiration to all xxx xxx
I have never met such a determined and strong person in all my life, it was a pleasure knowing Rich, we shared some good times that will never be forgotten, rest well my friend
Rich Meacham is so firmly fixed in so many people’s memories for his fighting spirit and his amazing fund raising activities He also made a lovely cup of tea!! He will be truly missed and I can only imagine the massive void that Kaye, Liv and Ryan now have in their lives. Be thankful for the great times you had together and the lovely memories that you made together will one day outweigh the not so great xx
Kaye and I joined the Royal Navy together, 6 months later I had met Andrew and she had met Richard. I knew this was a special man as he stuck by Kaye through some tough times. Over the years we have had some real laughs, put the worlds to right, got seriously drunk and enjoyed my cake, eh Rich With Rich you could always be yourself there was never any pretentious ness. We had the pleasure of your company last year on holiday, what memories we made and that's what it was all about for Rich, as he had a zest for life and for living it. Rich was the funniest and the most loyal friend we have; Rich was simply our best friend. My bald headed Coote we will never forget you.
Love always & forever the Old Goat, Andrew, Thomas & Hannah xxxx
I’ve sat here trying to put into words how much we all thought of Rich, there are simply no words to describe how much we thought of him and how sad we all are, everybody I know loved to be in his company. We are so honoured that we got to spend a few days in Bristol over Christmas to be with the Meachams and Rich was THE best tour guide and we all from young to old(er) loved being in his company. Kaye certainly met her soul mate in Rich and although we were sad to lose her to Bristol all those years ago we all knew that Rich was the one for her.
Rich you have taught everyone you have ever met to never give up, your positivity in life was amazing and you also taught everyone to think twice before moaning about the petty little things that really don’t matter and how we should embrace life. You will be missed by everyone and loved forever. Rest in peace xx
We are so so very sorry to hear that Rich has passed away. What a fighter and what a family you are. He was so proud of you all! We had such fun on the many Ashton Boys tours .Great Memories. Rich you could always crack us up. Love and condolences to Kaye, Liv and Ryan and family xxx
I remember walking into TS Adventure back in the early 90’s, I was a cadet back home in Wales and wanted to rejoin as staff having moved to Bristol- who did I meet first, yes Meach. This hilarious Bristolian chap who was like a cadet whisperer - he could get them to do anything, he helped me, supported me, laughed at me (numerous times) and was an all round top bloke. Years passed and we went our separate ways, I was in the canteen at work (Police) and who shouts over with a cheeky grin.... yep they had only let him be a special Constable! The same Meach - supporting others on his intake, not too proud to ask for help when needed and always laughing. It’s heartbreaking that his story has been cut short but what a hero in the way he dealt with everything - and what an amazing wife and children he leaves to keep living life with the same zest. Keep an eye on us Meach from up there, until we meet again x
We are truly honoured to have known Rich, and I always think you can see a good parent in their children. The young adults Liv and Ryan have grown into are two great legacies Rich has left behind carry on. They are a credit to both you both Rich and Kaye.
I am so pleased Rich made it to HMS Victory for my leaving do recently and I think he would agree it was fitting that the last time we saw each other was over a beer on the World's greatest warship!
RIP mate.
Rich always enjoyed seeing you, your positivity, strength and energy was remarkable. You never complained and never said why me You told me once that you wake up every morning with a smile and look forward to another day. I still can't believe you're gone, you are constantly in my thoughts, rest in peace lovely man, Deb & Rich Farrington
Rich, you were a guy i just clicked with as soon as we met, we shared so many common interests that conversation just flowed. Your energy and joy in life's challenges was infectious too. Although we did not meet often I always enjoyed it when we did and it sucks to not have you still around. Rest in Peace mate.
Meach,
You were a little s*** as a cadet but after our trip to Holland I saw you in a different light. You were a kind, generous and genuine person and a staunch family man with a heart of gold.
You were so strong to the end, god bless you and I am honoured to call you a friend.
PS. When you get to meet Him remind him of how good I have been!!!
I'm going to miss you shag , we had such good times as engineers and became good friends , true fighter , never complained just fought every change put in front of you , thanks for the memories x
Rich, I don't know where to begin! I have known you for many of my BT years. The happiest of which were working along side you as field manager. I would always make a beeline for the seat next to you at meetings because it would always guarantee me lots of laughs with your constant wit, you were so funny!
You were also so determined, bloody minded, stubborn, courageous, positive and such a fighter. You will always have my respect for your sheer determination not to let this disease beat you a long time ago.
Words just can't describe how I feel and I write this with tears in my eyes and such a heavy heart because we have lost a great man. Our office will never feel quite the same knowing that your're never going to be back to share it with me. Lots of love xx
