Barbara Kathleen Green

  • 10.05.1928 - 07.03.2018

Barbara was born Barbara Pomphrey and grew up in Bristol and at the age of 16 she met Peter Green, shortly before he was called up for service in the Navy towards the end of the war. They married 6 years later and remained happily married for over 60 years until Pete sadly passed away in 2009. They had twin daughters, Jackie and Jayne, the whole family remained very close throughout their lives regardless of geographical distance. As well as being a wonderfully loving wife and mother Barb also ran a catering business for many years until she retired in her late 60's. Barb continued to live in the home that her and Pete built from scratch together and they both loved, and she was able to remain there until she was reunited with Pete in March 2018. Being such a warm and caring lady, she had very many close friends and family and loved their company - especially in the later years that would have been a much lonelier time of her life without them.   Barbara was very proud of the work Jayne has done with HeartKids in Australia. HeartKids is a charity helping children, teens and adults affected by congenital/childhood heart disease, the most common birth defect in England and Australia. HeartKids funds world-class research into the disease and supports the children - and their families - to lead the most fulfilling lives possible and to reach their personal goals, despite their life-long struggles with this condition. Their website is www.heartkids.org.au. Your donations can be left in the retiring collection following the service or made at http://bit.ly.barbmemory, or forwarded c/o Thomas Davis Funeral Directors, Southville Lodge, Southville Road, Bristol.
