My gorgeous wife, loving mum and grandma.

I met Gloria in 1984 when I started working at GEC Avionics in Nailsea. I was a technician working on power supplies used in aircraft, Gloria worked in the stores putting the kits of parts together. I spent quite a bit of my time helping her to understand what the parts were with a view to helping her with her job. Before long we realized that we were falling in love.
To 'cement' our relationship we took to buying each other lunch in the factory canteen, hot dog here, hamburger there etc etc.
On September 20th 1986 we were married at Holy Trinity Church, Nailsea. As regular church goers our service was attended by many and it was a wonderful day. The service was recorded on video tape and we have watched it a number of times since. Gloria's Daughter Lisa was a beautiful bridesmaid and Gloria looked beautiful in her satin dress made for her by her clever friend Marina.
Gloria was a very active member of the church and sang in the choir and a local christian group. At the time Graham Kendrick, an evangelical song writer, was putting together a number of concerts and Gloria was able to get involved and found herself singing at St Davids concert hall in Cardiff.
We moved to Pucklechurch in April 1987. By this time Gloria was pregnant and on August 25th gave birth to our son Matthew at Southmead Hospital. Our family was complete.
We soon found our feet in Pucklechurch, making new friends and getting involved with the church here. Gloria once again joined a christian song group called Charisma and I had a go at learning to ring the church tower bells. I later joined the cricket club.
Cricket was and still is my passion and Gloria always supported me, bringing our son along and often to be seen wheeling him in his pushchair around the perimeter as I continued my still unfulfilled endeavours to score a maiden 50.
Our children grew up and prepared to leave the nest. Lisa left first to set up home in Staple Hill with her friends Ellen, Liz and Emily and then some time later, Matthew followed suit as he moved into digs in Bradford on Avon to be near his place of work at the Woolley Grange Hotel.
To fill the void we were given our beloved Yorkie, Precious, by our friend Netta. Netta's father owned the sire Jack, Precious' mother lived on St Aldams in the village.
In the 90's I went through a period of ill health with Ulcerative Colitis, finally culminating in hospitalization and two very long and difficult operations. Gloria was there for me. It was tough for her as the hours passed by. The disease was gone and I regained my health.
I had always planned to retire at 60 and to have a long and healthy retirement, shared with my wife. I wanted to travel and show her the parts of the world that I had been fortunate to see in my early life as a merchant navy Radio Officer.
However, this was not to be as in early 2017 Gloria started to have problems with her speech. Over the next several months Gloria underwent a number of medical tests and  investigations. And in late 2017 Gloria was diagnosed with MND and Dementia.
Life can be so cruel.
In January 2018 I left work to become Gloria's full time carer. A tough job, but one that brought us even closer together. The once loving, bubbly, talkative and outgoing person that was my wife was being consumed by these horrid diseases.
Gloria is gone now. Taken from me after a bout of Pneumonia. I would like to think that her spirit is dancing around in heaven bringing joy and laughter as she goes.
Gloria certainly brought joy, laughter and love into my life and I will cherish the 35 years we had together. Gloria lives on in our children and on her behalf I will continue to guide them as a good father should.
